About this file

This document is the Salient Characteristics for Perfluoroalkoxy alkane (PFA) vials required by the USAF Radiochemistry Laboratory for Mass Spectroscopy chemistry. The laboratory requires round-bottom PFA vials in 7 mL, 15 mL, and 22 mL volumes, with lids, that meet ultra-low background levels of trace metals, specifically uranium. The PFA vials must be resistant to strong corrosive chemicals and not degrade, melt, or leak. The agency also requires 10 black marking pens that can write on the PFA vials without smudging.

The related federal contract opportunity is Solicitation Number FA252124QB141 for Perfluoroalkoxy Alkance (PFA) Vials, issued by the Department of the Air Force Space Command. The purpose is to provide the USAF Radiochemistry Laboratory with PFA vials and lids that meet stringent trace metal contaminate levels and are resistant to strong corrosive chemicals.

AFTAC Radiochemistry Laboratory PFA Vial Salient Characteristics

The USAF Radiochemistry Laboratory requires various Perfluoroalkoxy alkance (PFA) vials with lids for Mass Spectroscopy chemistry that meets stringent trace metal contaminate levels and are resistant to strong corrosive chemicals. Resistance to melting, leaking, non-degraded vials in corrosive chemical contact.

Round bottom, Perfluoroalkoxy alkance (PFA) vials in the following volumes with associated lids that meet ultra-low background levels of trace metals, specifically Uranium. PFA is resistant to strong corrosive chemicals. Require black marking pens (quantity 10) capable of writing on PFA vials without smudging.
