1.2 Background

1.2.1 Patrick Air Force Base, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and all outlying annexes and associated installations have been designated to fall under the United States Space Force, thus all signs must be re-designated to reflect the change

1.3 Special Instructions

1.3.1 All sign types must be uniform in appearance and constructed of the material referenced in UFC 3-120-01. Color scheme will be black and silver, or, black and white, per colors outlined in USSF Logo Guidelines – 6.29.20

1.3.2 All verbiage on new signs must mirror verbiage on existing signs, except in the case of reference to USAF organizations. Contractor will work closely with government representative to determine new organizational naming conventions (i.e. 45 OG, 45 CES, etc) prior to sign construction.

1.3.3 Delta and/or organizational insignia will no longer be included on any sign

1.3.4 Freestanding building identification signs and any miscellaneous signs that require a frame independent of a facility, must use a standard post-and-panel type construction.

Use extruded aluminum square posts with flat aluminum sign message panels that are removable for easy replacement. Sign post and panel sizes must be engineered by the sign contractor according to wind loads and other requirements at each installation.

Typical dimensions of freestanding building identification signs can be found in UFC 3-120-01, Figure 3-10 and 3-11. Design criteria can also be found in FDOT Index 11860 and 11200. Dimensions of freestanding miscellaneous signs will vary.

Approximate dimensions included in Table 1.1.2.

1.3.5 Coordinate all digging activities with government representative as contractor will require an AF103 & dig permit.

1.3.6 Prior to disposal of any signs, contractor will coordinate with the Project Manager to determine if any signs will be retained by the government for historical record.
