POC: _Ralph Kennedy_____________________________________
RFP Section __________ Paragraph _________
SOW/Technical Specification/Drawings paragraph/page ___________
Other (Specify) ___________________________
Question: __Sh. S-300 shows suspending the new pole to place concrete underneath it. It is going to be almost impossible to hold a pole this high and heavy plum, then have to keep it plum while the concrete cures. We suggest modifying this to a 5 ft. diameter hole, setting the pole at the bottom and filling with #57 Stone & add 2 feet of concrete at the top.___
Government Response: Full designed concrete foundation required to achieve structural requirements.
This requirement has been met successfully on several previous identical construction projects. The pole does not need to be temp supported until design strength is reached, contractor means and methods to determine holding time. Other methods such as offset anchoring may be used.
