3D Wax Printer Salient Characteristics – FA2517-18-R-6003

The Area Dental Laboratory at Peterson AFB has a requirement for a 3D Wax Printer.

Characteristics required are listed below.

1. Print full contour wax patterns and cut back patterns for fixed dental prosthodontic restorations including but not limited to crowns, bridges, and copings with superior margins.

2. Printer must be capable of batch production.

3. Printer must be able to print in castable materials with no thermal expansion.

4. The printer’s build and support materials must be non-toxic and require no special waste disposal.

5. The printer’s support material must be either dissolvable, meltable, or both.

6. Printer must have equal to or greater resolution capability of 5000 x 5000 dots per inch (197 x 197 dots/mm) in X, Y and 8000 dots per inch (315 dots/mm) in Z.

7. Printer’s accuracy must be equal to .0010 inch/inch or better along each X, Y and Z axis.

8. Must have a surface finish accuracy of 32-63 micro-inches or better – analyzed with root mean squares (RMS)

9. The build envelope of the printer must be equal to or greater than 6 inches (Wide) x 6 inches (Deep) x 2 inches (Height) X, Y, Z with consistent results over the entire area.

10. Printer must have dimensions of 21.4 inches (Wide) x 18 inches (Deep) x 16 inches (Height) or smaller

11. Printer must weigh 75 pounds (34 kg) or less.

12. Printer must have PC to printer connectivity via ethernet and Hi-Speed USB 2.0.

13. The CAD file input must be able to use “.stl” and “.slc” with CAD software formats for 3D printing.

14. System Software must be Windows (Operating System) based.

15. Printer must have status monitoring and fault detection with the ability to restart a build from the point of interruption.

16. Printer must be capable of 72 hours of unattended work with the capacity for Smooth Curvature Printing (SCP).

17. Printer must be CE certified and FCC Class A approved

18. Printer must be fully automated with self installation and automatic job set-up.

19. Files, job start-up and job status must be able to be managed and viewed remotely from a computer.
