PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

FOR

AFPSL - Sensor EPROM Burning System

1. SCOPE:

• This Automated and Manual Calibration system shall be a complete turn-key solution (hardware, software, controller and printers) for updating power sensor correction factors for all vendors power sensors listed (See Appendix A), from 9 kHz to 50 GHz.

2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This system shall upload EPROM Data, after it performs calibration of an EPROM enabled power sensor. The system shall, after operator concurrence, automatically upload the calibration factors to the power sensor Device Under Test (DUT).

• Power Splitter Support Option: The Sensor EPROM Burning System shall come with additional hardware and software as required to support 2-port power splitter calibrations up to 50 GHz reporting the Full S-Parameters.

• Calibration method for Reflection Coefficient (of DUT): this shall be determined by means of the

"Juroshek" method.

• Source calibration factors: these shall be determined by comparison with two transfer standards (listed in 2.5) from 100 kHz to 50 GHz, calculating power applied shall be determined by the complex reflection coefficients of DUT, power splitter and transfer standard.

• From 100 MHz to 50 GHz the measurement deviations caused by mismatch are to be corrected for under consideration of the complex reflection coefficients of DUT and complex reflection coefficients of the transfer standard (Gamma Correction). Below 100 MHz the small deviations are to be taken into account by the uncertainty budget based on the DUT’s Reflection Specifications.

• Linearity deviation: this shall be determined by this system with direct current in comparison with the power dissipated in a precision 50 Ohms resistor of known value at the output port.

• This system shall measure and adjust linearity deviations of diode sensor operation outside the square law region of the diode and measure power from -36 to + 33dBm relative to the 50 MHz 0dBm cal point with a +/- 1% Uncertainty.

• System will support an additional linearity measurement and adjustment operation utilizing a level source or signal generators such as the Fluke 9610 or 9640.

• This system shall support two reference standards (listed in 3.5.2) during the calibration process, allowing users to select the most accurate standard for a frequency range.

• For calibration factors below 100 kHz, the Sensor EPROM Burning System shall utilize a high accuracy voltage meter, Fluke 5790A/AF, to provide NIST traceable calibrations between 9 to 100 kHz.

• Measurement uncertainty: The measurement uncertainties are to be calculated and provided during calibration and must contain the uncertainties which includes the standards used and matching uncertainty of the DUT. The uncertainty stated shall be the expanded uncertainty (coverage factor k = 2).

• Software must support hardware configurations currently used by Air Force Calibration activities.

These are: (Tegam 1805A/B, 1806A & 1830, Agilent 8360 Series & PSG, Antirsu 68000 & 69000 Series Signal Generators, Agilent PSA-X Series VNA/PNA, N5424A (26.5 GHz), E8364B/C (50 GHz) Fluke 5790A/AF, 9610A/AF / 9640A/AF, and Rohde and Schwarz ZVA50 50 GHz).

• The Air Force reserves the right to distribute the software to Air Force Base PMELS.
