Questions and Answers Date : Aug 20 2025

1. Our instrument utilizes thermocouple only as this has become the standard for modern automated flash testers. Many older models in the past did utilize an ionization ring but advances in the thermocouple technology have proved it as being superior. ASTM D93 does not require an ionization ring. Is this acceptable?).

a. This is acceptable for the government.

2. Our instrument can test up to 400°C. The current published scope of test method ASTM D93 covers the determination of the flash point of petroleum products in the temperature range from 40°C - 370°C. Is this acceptable?

a. Yes, this is an acceptable maximum range for testing.

3. Our instrument utilizes a single ducted fan which would be as effective or better than a dual ductless fan for rapid cooling. Is this acceptable?

a. A single ducted fan will be acceptable.
