About this file
The document is a Salient Characteristics specification for the GlideGuide F-15 Kit, a specialized tool steel installation tool for aircraft pneumatic, fuel, and coolant line fittings. The GlideGuide is designed to facilitate precise sleeve installation on Adel-Wiggins and similar slip-fit style fittings, reducing installation risks such as leaks, potential aircraft grounding, and maintenance downtime.
The related federal contract opportunity is a Sole Source Acquisition by the 4th Contracting Squadron at Seymour Johnson AFB, with the intent to award a contract to Chase Supply Inc. The procurement will use Simplified Acquisition Procedures under FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), specifically for Steel Clamps functioning as glide guides for F-15 fuel systems. The solicitation closes on 27 June 2025 at 12:00 P.M EST, with an undetermined award date. The procurement is being conducted by the Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command, and interested parties can contact SSgt Robert Brownson at robert.brownson@us.af.mil for additional information.

GlideGuide F-15 Kit Salient Characteristics
Material Tool Steel
GlideGuide is a tool designed to facilitate the precise and damage-free installation of sleeves on Adel-Wiggins and similar slip-fit style fittings commonly found in aircraft pneumatic, fuel, and coolant lines. Its use directly reduces the risk of leaks, potential aircraft grounding, and costly diagnostic and maintenance downtime.
The tool provides controlled and even pressure application during sleeve installation, eliminating the common problem of "overshooting" and the need for rework. Integrated stops ensure proper sleeve placement, aligning precisely with the o-ring ferrule for a secure and accurate fit. It fully encases the sleeve during installation, preventing contact with other tools (e.g., screwdrivers, pry bars) that can cause nicks and scratches leading to leaks. This protective design safeguards the integrity of critical aircraft systems. It also supports two-way sleeve installation, allowing technicians to either push the sleeve onto the ferrules or pull it into place, providing flexibility in various maintenance scenarios.
Constructed from durable tool steel, GlideGuide is built for long-term reliability. Its magnetic properties facilitate easy retrieval in confined spaces, minimizing the risk of FOD. It adheres to all applicable FAA and military tool control specifications and FOD control standards. Its one-piece design with staked steel pin ensures a cohesive and reliable tool.
