Questions Creech AFB/Nellis AFB Bldg.

1. Are racks and/or cabinets installed in Server Room 14600? If so, is there a layout? If not, Will client be providing or contractor? Will Client or contractor be installing?

The Racks are provided by the customer. I do not have a layout but the customer does. The customer will be installing the rack via some other contract they have.

The racks are installed and in place.

2. The rack layout shows fiber patch panels that imply the fiber between rows should be pre terminated to save rack/cabinet space, is this correct?

I believe they are talking about the rack to rack cross-connects. Pre-terminated or not doesn’t matter to us. The patch panels are populated in the racks on pages 25-30 of the SOO.

If so, can we get a layout to determine footages of the pre-terminated fiber if Cabinets or racks are already in place? If not, can we get a print of the server room 14600 to scale to figure footages out for the fibers between rows? Or at least some footages of the server room 14600 (length, width, height) to figure out the scale. This way we can do a full server room layout to include ladder rack above the racks/cabinets and wire mesh tray below the floor to the rooms that are going to be raised floors.

The initial Comm service is delivered already to the Server room. 38th engineering included termination of FOC (Fiber Optic Cable) and CAT 6 from the Server room racks to the Ops Cell, GCS's, MGCS's and other offices included in the SOO. (The annexes are not included) Service will need to be connected to the Racks and then distributed throughout the racks as noted in the SOO.

3. Will cable tray be needed under the floor of the Ops cell for the floor boxes?

Yes, if necessary

The Ops cell already has a cable tray located under the subfloor. All the new Fiber optic boxes (FOB) are installed and routed to the cable trays. The fiber will need to be properly supported into and within the tray.

4. Will tiles need to be cut in ops cell for the floor boxes or are tiles already cut from previous layout?

Sub-Floor Boxes and conduit are already run. If necessary to hook up workstations, then Yes.

No, all holes for the tiles in the OPS Cell has already been cut.

5. Are we to assume that only the Server Room and Ops cell are the only 2 rooms that will have raised floors?

No that is not true. FGCS rooms also have raised floors.

The hallway between the FGCS bays and the server room is also raised floor.

6. The counts for the Standard FOB’s do not match up. In the FOB list there are 37, on the drawings there are 41? Should we go with the 41?

Yes, go with 41.

There should be 41 standard FOBs. The 4 standard FOBs in room 14000 is missing from section 3.2.1 b

7. There is a list of MGCS FOB’S (7) but they are not shown on the drawing, where do these (7) locations need to be installed?

The MGCS's are located outside the back end of the building. They are outdoors approximately 40 ft. from B-1005. All Conduit is installed.

There are NEMA boxes that will be installed on the back pads of 1005 and their distances vary to room 14600. These NEMA boxes will need to have rails installed so that a fiber patch panel can be installed for the fiber termination. The NEMA boxes are depicted on page 24 of the SOO in sketch 9 with the shortest run being to the left and the farthest run being to the right. Room 14600 starts roughly at the notch between the two doors depicted above the left building 1005 label.

8. Are the MGCS outlets in the 3 other buildings running straight to the Server Room in bldg. 1005? If so, are there underground conduits between the buildings? If so, where are they located. If not, are there racks and cabinets in the bldgs. to run the cables to? If not, will contractor need to provide and install racks/cabinets? What size racks and cabinets will be needed? Will fiber feeds need to be run to server room 14600? What will the fiber specs need to be?

There are underground Conduits between B-1005 and MGCS. FOC and CAT6 will be run to the MGCS's then terminated in a FOB. Racks are provided by the customer. You will need to run Fiber from MGCS to the Server room and terminate at the appropriate Switch for the various services the MGCS's need.

Fiber will need to by SM FOC, and tested IAW with Specifications listed in NC27101, and performance values can be referenced in ANSI/TIA/EIA-568, Section 4.2 Table 1

Not sure what other buildings they are referring to, but the mobile GCS NEMA boxes are connected to the server room (Room 14600) via underground conduits.
