About this file

This document is a Question and Answer (Q&A) session related to a federal contract opportunity for Armory Storage Lifts at Minot AFB.

The key details are:

  • The solicitation is for 3 Armory Storage Lifts to store M-4 rifles.
  • The agency issuing the solicitation is the Department of the Air Force Global Strike Command.
  • The requirements for the number of trays and tray sizes have been removed from the previous request, as the goal is to allow any vendor that can meet the overall requirements to bid, rather than single out a particular product.
  • Tray dividers for the weapons are no longer a requirement.
  • The focus is on the lift units being able to accommodate the total number of M-4 rifles, regardless of the specific configuration (e.g. 2 units with 2400 rifles or 3 units with 2400 rifles).

Armory Storage Lift Q & A 7 August 2024 Q: “With the Modula units that we proposed, they do meet the new requirements of containing a safety mechanism to lockset the tray and manual access capability in event of a power failure.”

A: That’s good, it’s one of the requirements.

Q: “Also, I noticed that in the new request, the number of trays and tray size requirements were removed from the previous. Has this requirement changed?”

A: Yes, it changed, that’s why it was removed. Number of trays and size requirements were removed as to not single out a particular company from bidding…. The reason why and bottom line quite frankly is that if there is a company that can manufacture VLM units to house ALL of our M-4’s based on specs provided in the SOW (size of M-4’s, heights of VLM, etc.) the number of trays and size doesn’t matter… We could have two units housing 2400 M-4s… or 3 units housing 2400 M-4s…. as long as we can fit them in the vault and all M-4 fit… we are good with that.

Q: “Is the end user still looking for the tray dividers for the weapons to be in each tray as I did not see that listed either?”

A: “It’s not listed because it’s not a requirement.”
