3. Description of Product, Supplies or Services required to meet the Agencies needs Current needs require replacement of three Mercury 300 horse power outboard motors for a total of 900 horse power which is the maximum rated horse power for the vessel. The engines are required to be four stroke which is more environmentally friendly (not burning 2 stroke oil), be serviced locally, and have the same engine mount hole footprints as the current engines. The engines must be compatible with the existing vessel helm, instruments, wiring harnesses, electro/hydraulic steering system and propellers. Re-drilling the transom will not be an option. The only motors available that fit into this category are the Mercury Verado 300XL, 300CXL, and 300XXL.
These motors are NOAA OLE Mission Critical items for the Pacific Islands Regional Office. Without these motors, NOAA OLE will not be able to meet its mission requirements in the Area of Responsibility.
