Question and Answer- F2KBAD5267A101 Q: What does "away from the rigid body line" mean - why are they discarding resonant frequencies close to the rigid body line, and what do they mean by close? There's no scientific reason for it.
Can you further explain “Lowest resonant frequency away from the rigid body line should be greater then 100 Hertz."
A: The response of optical tables at low frequencies to an impulse force can be modeled as a rigid body response, i.e. as a linear response vs frequency. At a high enough frequency, the optical table no longer responds linearly to an impulse response. The response of the table deviates from the ideal rigid body response curve and begins to exhibit resonances. These resonances should occur at as high a frequency as possible. We are setting the frequency threshold for the appearance of these resonances at 100 Hertz.
In summary, the resonant frequencies of the table to be greater than 100 Hertz.
This is usually plotted on a compliance curve for the table.
