Airfield Light Fixture Contractor Questions and Answers

Question 1: Do you need a quote for the fixture only, or do you also need the light base, isolation transformer & connector kits?

Answer: We are requesting basically two (2) types of lights. The two types of lights and requirements follow:

(1) "In-Pavement" light where the fixture is made into the light base -- they are one in-the-same.

For this type fixture, the size of the base plate and mounting holes is critical. They must match up or the contractor must provide a separate "shallow" base.

(2) "Elevated" where the fixture is 14" above the base. With this fixture, the base is a separate piece that the light fixture connects to. We are asking for the fixture.

We plan to use the existing isolation transformer and connector kits. We need the fixture with plug to connect to our isolation transformer.

The cut sheets that are attached to the SON show two (2) different types of lights. The fixture must be supplied with the LED bulbs.

Question 2: Is there any Buy America clauses associated with this contract?

Answer: Yes. The solicitation incorporates 252.225-7001. Note the required certification in

252.225-7000 which is a required submission in the Addendum to 52.212-1.

Question 3: Are alternatives to Crouse Hind's products acceptable?

Answer: Yes. The FAR provision 52.212-1(e) allows multiple or alternate offers.

Additionally, the SON on page 4 states that alternatives are acceptable and the solicitation includes 52.211-6, Brand Name or Equal. It is the contractor's responsibility to research the technical details within the Statement of Need to ensure they are providing an acceptable item or acceptable alternative solution. We are not authorized to give a "pre-evaluation" review to determine if an alternative solution is acceptable. The government will determine technical acceptability during the technical evaluation.

Please use the contact information provided with the solicitation/amendment for any further questions or concerns. Thanks!
