Statement of Need For SolarRAE Remote Alternative Power Source for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Monitors 24 August 2011
1.0 Overview
This requirement is for a SolarRAE Remote Alternative Power Source to power AreaRAE Rapid Deployment CBRN Detectors in remote parts of Buckley AFB without existing commercial power. These detectors confirm the presence or absence of possible toxic substances throughout the installation.
2.0 Background
The lack of accessible power in some areas of the installation makes it impossible to deploy AreaRAE CBRN monitors in those areas for prolonged use. While monitors can be used on emergency battery power, this would necessitate taking the units off-line in order to replaced depleted batteries, something that is time consuming and labor intensive.
Statement of Objective
The purchase will provide 24/7 uninterrupted operations for monitors deployed to remote areas not served by the power grid.
3.0 Scope
The contractor shall deliver:
Two (2) SolarRAE alternate power solar systems, part # 029-5050-100, to power AreaRAE CBRN detectors. Each package includes the following items:
· Complete Solar Enclosure System – 30W solar array
· (12V) 55amp/hr sealed gel battery stored in painted steel enclosure
· Charging Controller
· Exhaust Fan
· Sample tubing
· Wiring and wall/pole mounting kit
