RESPONSES TO VENDORS’ QUESTIONS
Request for Proposal for Security Architect-Engineer & Physical Security Specialist
Support IDIQ Contract
(No.F16SOL10020)
1. Would the Security Architect-Engineer work with integrating security systems into a proposed design?
ANSWER: The solicitation is for professional engineering services for the design of security systems. The solicitation is not intended to solicit vendors of or for the construction or installation of security systems. This doesn’t necessarily preclude a vendor from being a sub consultant to or partnered with a security system designer, however doing so would preclude the vendor from participating in any fashion in the procurement, construction and installation of the system they helped design.
2. Is it acceptable for a firm to respond to the solicitation and submit both as a prime firm and also as a sub-consultant to other prime firm teams?
ANSWER: That is acceptable.
3. Would the Smithsonian prefer a separate Commissioning agent from the MEP consultant, or would a fully certified Commissioning agent from the MEP consultant be equally satisfactory?
ANSWER: There will be no need for a commissioning agent for MEP.
4. Would the Smithsonian object to the inclusion of a landscape architect in our solicitation response?
ANSWER: Smithsonian would not object to a landscape architect.
