DEMOLITION OF BURROWS RACEWAYS S.O.W. - 1
SECTION C
STATEMENT OF WORK
REMOVE BURROWS RACEWAYS
AT
LEADVILLE NATIONAL FISH HATCHERY
PART 1 - GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
1.1 SUMMARY
A. Work under this contract includes furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, necessary to remove 3 concrete raceways, remove distribution piping, and backfill with material from onsite borrow area.
B. The demolition work required includes removing asphalt apron around raceways, removing concrete walls and slab, capping and sealing distribution piping, grading fill to promote drainage and other measures as shown.
1.2 BACKGROUND
A. Removal of the burrows raceways is the first step in a multiyear project to replace the burrows raceways with new structures that be used for fish rearing. The burrows raceways, originally constructed in 1953, have seriously deteriorated, the walls are crumbling faster than can be repaired, and joints are leaking water. Injuries have resulted from people stepping into the raceways because asphalt was placed nearly flush to the top of the raceway walls.
B. Phased replacement would allow for the production of threatened Greenback cutthroat trout broodstock to support recovery efforts, save water from being lost into the adjacent ground, and protect staff or visiting public.
1.3 PROJECT INFORMATION
A. Project Location: Leadville National Fish Hatchery, 2846 Highway 300, Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.
B. Station Contact Information: Prospective bidders are encouraged to visit the work area in order to examine the existing site conditions. Contact the station at (719) 486-0189 to set up a site visit.

A. All operations of the Contractor (including storage of materials) upon Government premises shall be confined to areas authorized or approved by the Contracting Officer.
B. Limit use of Project site areas within the Contract limits indicated. Do not disturb portions of Project site beyond areas in which the Work is indicated.

2. Provide not less than 48 hours' notice to Government of activities that will affect Government's operations.
B. Coordinate all work of the project to facilitate orderly progress and proper sequence of work at all times.
C. In the event that other contracts are in progress concurrently with this contract, the Contractor shall coordinate their work so as not to disrupt progress of other work, and shall cooperate to facilitate orderly progress of all work.
D. During the summer Leadville NFH is a station and check point for the Fish Hatchery 5K race, May 31, 2015. The Hatchery will need to be open and fully accessible for all volunteers and participants.
