Project No: 0833135

Project Title: Fire Protection For Multiple Buildings - Visitor Center

Addendum No. 2

A. Section 08710 - Par. 2.2.E.3: the representative acceptable product referenced, but not included in the specification, is attached below. (LCN 4040SE Series)

B. Drawing C-1-61, and C-1-62: the bamboo along the path of excavation for the new fire service main, not specifically indicated on the drawing,(but included as a general note under the general category of “trees”), is required to be removed and replaced/replanted.

The area of bamboo is approximately 210 square feet. (42’ x 5’ excavation width) All other drawing requirements, regarding replacement of existing plants, trees, shrubs, and mulching, are required.

C. Drawing C-1-61, and C-1-62: there is an existing irrigation system, not shown on the drawings, in a section of the path of excavation for the new fire service main. Contractor to include in his proposal, the removal/replacement of approximately 15 linear feet of 1-1/2” diameter PVC piping, and one(1) 2-1/2” irrigation head during the performance of the fire service piping installation. This is the area just north of Olmstead Walk.

D. Drawing C-1-62: Tree No. 258 has a critical root zone of 42’, and will require air spading, root pruning, and stake straw bales, per General Note 17 (the drawing does not indicate a critical root zone radius - the revised CRZ radius extends into the plane of the fire service main excavation.)

You are to acknowledge receipt of this addendum with your proposal.

Project Title: Fire Protection For Multiple Buildings Phase 2 - Boiler Plant & Propagation Building

Addendum No. 1

A. Section 01000 - Par. 3.1.1: Contract Time For Completion

For Boiler Plant, change total contract time from “45” calendar days to “90” calendar days.

B. Section 01000 - Par. 3.1.2

For Propagation Building, change total contract time from “30” calendar days to “90” calendar days.

C. Section 01000 - Par. 12

Revise Par. 12.1 as follows:

Par. 12.1: All animals will be removed from the Propagation 2nd Floor Area for the period of August 31st through September 13th, for the prosecution of the work. The Zoo staff will disinfect the work area as described in the “Smithsonian National Zoo Safety Procedures for the Prevention of Zoonotic Diseases from Non-Human Primates”. The COTR will notify the contractor’s project superintendent when the work area is safe, and has been properly prepared for construction activities.

D. Drawing A-0-94 (Propagation Building)

Revise Note S-2 as follows:

Note S-2: Work areas on the second floor, and the attic, other than the Genetics Lab, may be only accessed from August 31st through September 13th (fourteen(14) calendar days). For work in these areas, the following items are required at all times: safety glasses, hard hats, masks, work boots, long pants, long sleeved shirt;

no eating, drinking, or smoking are permitted in these areas; wash hands with soap, and water after work is complete in these areas, especially before eating, drinking, or smoking. Gloves are not an appropriate substitute for hand washing.

If soap, and water is not available, clean hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer.

E. Drawing A-0-94 (Propagation Building)

Delete Note S-12, and Note S-13 (these notes are being deleted, as no animals will be present during the work on the second floor animal holding areas; no work items are specified or required to be installed interior to animal cages)

F. Drawing FA-1-91 (Boiler Plant)

Revise the location of FACP, and TRAN, and Diamond Notes 1, and 5, per attached annotated FA-1-91 drawing.

G. Propagation Buiding - photographs of the 2nd Floor, and Attic areas are attached for reference purposes.
