About this file

This is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) from the Florida Department of Health (DOH) Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) for laboratory equipment maintenance services from Life Technologies. The purchase involves maintenance and technical support for state-owned analytical instruments including KingFisher Flex 24, ProFlex PCR systems, SEQstudio genetic analyzer, Quant Studio DX, and VariosKan Lux equipment used for nucleic acid extraction, sequencing, and molecular testing processes. The term is for four years, with a posting date of February 10, 2025, and a last day for receipt of information of March 3, 2025.

The estimated dollar amount for this single-source purchase is $900,000.00. The justification for the single-source acquisition is based on the proprietary technology requiring factory-certified Life Technologies/Thermo Fisher Scientific service engineers to perform maintenance and repairs, as well as FDA requirements for factory-certified engineers to work on the instruments. The purchase is being made in accordance with Florida Statutes and Administrative Code, with approval from the DOH BPHL Purchasing Director, Allegra Small.
