About this file

This document is a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract (PUR 7778) issued by the Florida Department of Health (DOH). The DOH is seeking to purchase reagents, collection kits, and other testing supplies for instruments currently owned by the DOH Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) to be used for clinical testing for SARS-COVID-19. The requested items include indicators and reagents, histology equipment, virology test kits or supplies, toxicology test kits or supplies, virology reagents or solutions or stains, specimen collection and transport containers and supplies, specimen collection containers, molecular biology test kits or supplies, and molecular biology reagents or solutions or stains. The DOH is requesting authorization to purchase these items as a single source from Hologic, Inc., as the supplies are proprietary and Hologic is the exclusive manufacturer and distributor. The intended single source contract is valued at $4,000,000.

The justification for the single source purchase is that the requested reagents, collection kits, and other testing supplies are proprietary and compatible with the testing instruments currently owned by the DOH, and it is in the best interest of the DOH to maintain continuity of services by using these specialized supplies. The document outlines the protest process and contact information for any interested parties.
