About this file
This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) posted by the Florida Department of Health (DOH), Division of Community Health Promotion, Bureau of Tobacco Free Florida (BTFF). The DOH is seeking to purchase training services for Community Health Workers (CHWs) statewide from the Florida Community Health Workers Coalition, Inc. (FCHWC) to assist women with navigating breast cancer screenings and survivorship. The services will utilize an existing multi-sector workgroup to develop training curriculum, conduct training, and document best practices to support a range of stakeholders and partners statewide. This project aligns with the Florida Cancer Program's breast and cervical cancer early detection, cancer survivorship, and cancer continuum of care strategies as outlined in the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's Cancer Prevention and Control Grant. The intended single source is the FCHWC, which has a statewide infrastructure with regional coordinators to support and promote the CHW profession in Florida. The estimated dollar amount for the 3-year contract is $225,000.
The DOH has determined the FCHWC to be the sole source for these services, as they are the only organization providing a statewide infrastructure and network of regional trainers and CHWs to meet the department's need for coordinated regional access to trainers and deployment of local CHWs representing the target population, demographics, and communities.
