About this file
This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Department of Health (DOH) Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL). The DOH BPHL is seeking to purchase a FDA-approved Roche Cobas 5800 analyzer that is compatible with multiple HIV and STI molecular assays to support refugee testing at the Jacksonville PHL. The Roche Cobas 5800 allows for HIV-1/HIV-2 Differentiating RNA testing and CT/NG/TV/MG quad testing from a single patient sample. The estimated dollar amount for this single source purchase is $200,000 for a one-year term.
The justification for this single source acquisition is that Roche Molecular is the exclusive manufacturer and distributor of the Cobas 5800 instrument, which is the sole FDA-approved analyzer system for use with the required HIV and STI molecular assays at the BPHL Jacksonville lab. The Cobas 5800 has the unique ability to assess and differentiate multiple HIV and STI analytes with a single patient sample, reducing patient visits and blood draws.
