About this file
The document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) posted by the Florida Department of Health (the Department) for the procurement of Aptima HIV-1 Quant Dx testing reagents. The Department's Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL) requires these proprietary reagents to use in its current HIV testing algorithm. The Department is requesting authorization to purchase the Aptima HIV-1 Quant Dx as a single source item from Hologic, Inc., the sole distributor of these kits and reagents. The contract term is 3 years. The estimated dollar amount of the purchase is $712,800.00. The justification for the single source acquisition is that the Aptima HIV-1 Quant Dx assay is the only dual claim assay intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis, and it is in the best interest of the state to maintain continuity by using these specialized kits and reagents with the Department's existing HIV testing algorithm.
The Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 60A-1.045, governs this single source procurement. Prospective vendors are requested to provide information regarding their ability to supply the required commodities or contractual services. If it is determined that the commodities or services are available only from a single source, the Department will provide notice of its intended decision to enter a single-source purchase contract.
