About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) posted by the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Public Health Laboratories (BPHL). The BPHL has a need to purchase FDA-approved assay kits compatible with the Cepheid GeneXpert system for the detection of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis complex DNA and Rifampin resistance. The BPHL requests authorization to purchase Cepheid Xpert GMTB/RIF-US-10 Assay kits as a single source for a 3-year term. The estimated dollar amount for this purchase is $214,200.00. Cepheid is the sole manufacturer and supplier of the required GeneXpert technology and assays.

The justification for the single-source acquisition is that the Cepheid assay kits are the only FDA-approved kits compatible with the BPHL's Cepheid GeneXpert system and testing algorithm. Prospective vendors are requested to provide information regarding their ability to supply the required commodities or services. If the agency determines that the commodities or services are available only from a single source, it will provide notice of its intended decision to enter a single-source purchase contract.
