This RFP is issued for the purpose of soliciting proposals from individuals or firms interested in providing a Gamma Scintillation Camera. HCC reserves the right to award separate contracts to multiple contractors. It is the intent of these specifications to describe the minimum requirements for the Gamma Scintillation Camera in sufficient detail to secure comparable bids/proposals.

The successful proposer (Contractor) shall be required to furnish all resources, transportation, services, labor, material, equipment, and supplies necessary and required to supply, install, and deliver (F.O.B Destination, Prepaid, and Allowed), in accordance with the general terms and conditions and requirements outlined in this solicitation.

3.1. Specifications

Vendor to provide and install specialized Gamma Scintillation Camera

HCC Nuclear Medicine Technology Program is the only program located in the Houston Area. It is also one of the largest Nuclear Medicine Technology programs in the United States. The majority of all practicing technologists, in Houston and the surrounding areas, are from this program. The students must receive the proper training that is needed to be successful in this field.

Nuclear Medicine uses radiopharmaceuticals to pinpoint areas of concern in the patient’s body. This is done through imaging.

With imaging, we can see where organs are not working to their fullest capacity. We can detect if cancer is present, where it is, and if chemotherapy and/or radiation therapies are successful in the patient’s care/plan of action.

All of the duties that a technologist must perform are taught in the classroom and clinical setting while students are in the program. The Nuclear Medicine Technology Program currently has one gamma scintillation camera in the main lab. It has a Hot Lab that houses equipment to instruct on the pharmaceutical portion of the college program. Faculty will provide instructions on how instrumentation and patient care are performed on a camera and provide hands-on experience in a controlled setting.

The College seeks to purchase a refurbished or preowned Gamma Scintillation Camera with an acquisition terminal and processing stations. It is important also to include multiple collimation and quality control apparatuses. Dual-headed gamma camera with SPECT capabilities. This should be included to aid in the classroom instructions in the Instrumentation class.

The supplier should also provide details and a service package/PM and extended warranty (if offered) pricing with the bid in order to determine the overall best value.
