About this file
This document is an Invitation for Bid (IFB No. 304T-26-550A2.2) issued by the Centralized Purchasing Authority (CPA) of Texas for Truck Mounted & Towable Attenuators, Level III, Folding Cartridge Type. The specification covers the procurement of crash attenuators designed to protect personnel, equipment, and the public from injury during highway operations. The attenuators must meet specific technical requirements including dimensions (stored length max 8 ft, deployed length min 8 ft, width 6-9 ft), weight limit of 2,600 lbs, and compliance with DOT Federal and State of Texas safety standards. The document includes detailed specifications for truck-mounted and towable versions, with requirements for lighting, safety plaques, chevron markings, and optional emergency lighting configurations.
The specification provides extensive technical details for vendors, including approved product brands, mounting hardware specifications, warranty terms, and mandatory features. The warranty requires a minimum 12-month coverage for 100% parts and labor, with manufacturer-authorized dealers required to have service capabilities within the state of Texas. Optional equipment includes additional emergency lighting systems with specific LED light configurations, such as light bars, strobe lights, and mini-lightbars with amber and blue color schemes. The document is structured to ensure comprehensive technical compliance and provides vendors with clear guidelines for product submission, with a focus on safety, visibility, and operational effectiveness in highway work zones.
