1. General

The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (MD Anderson) requests proposals from qualified and experienced firms to provide the supply and implementation of point-to-point automation or robotic systems for two separate facilities:

1. Consolidated Services Center (CSC)

2. Clinical Services Building (CSB)

2. Background

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the world's most respected cancer treatment and research institutions. Located in Houston, Texas and established in 1941, MD Anderson is dedicated to eliminating cancer through innovative research, personalized patient care, education, and prevention.

MD Anderson Supply Chain is responsible for managing ordering, picking, and replenishment of medical consumables, equipment, and miscellaneous material through MD Anderson’s Houston campus and area locations. Additionally, Supply Chain manages the clean dock operations, receiving, and delivery of all materials to their customers throughout the campus. Supply Chain department serves as a critical support function and requires the appropriate allocation of space, equipment, and staff throughout the campus to minimize response time to requests and maximize the use of its resources. The two ongoing construction projects (CSC and CSB) are supporting the Supply Chain department service expansion.

In addition, MD Anderson is in the process of a rapid expansion at the Main campus north of Holcombe that begins with the construction of the Clinical Services Building and connected bridges. Alongside Supply Chain, facilities management and clinical infrastructure will also utilize the robotic solution to transport material to and from the new CSB.

Consolidated Service Center Building MD Anderson is implementing a Consolidated Service Center (CSC) in cooperation with all parties enabling a world class Supply Chain while promoting advancements in research, education, and healthcare services with the primary goal of treating and eliminating cancer. CSC is currently in design and is scheduled to be completed in May 2026.

The CSC is a cornerstone of the Master Facilities Framework slated to grow the campus for inpatient, outpatient, and research services.

4.1.2 Clinical Services Building (CSB) Scope of Work

• The concept of operations is shown in the following diagrams but in general detent spaces are being created on levels 3 and 4 of Anderson East where the robots will deliver material from the loading dock areas of CSB and then return material from those detent spaces. The detent spaces will be the primary pick-up/drop-off for the manual carts. Robotic pathways within the existing hospital, past the detent spaces, are not yet available.

The need is to transport from the inbound dock area to the designated area and to the other connected facilies and also return material from other connected facilies

The throughput requirement is given in the table of this RFP

Round trip distance per movement is 2,500 (about 914.4 m) that includes bridges

Four elevator trips per round trip is expected. LVL1CSB > elevator > LVL3CSB > Bridge > elevator >LVL4DETENTSPACE and reverse. Note: LVL3 detent space is on same level as bridge and does not require elevator.

Current Cart shown on figure 9 and can accommodate 20 totes. Each tote’s maximum weight is 30 lbs.

U-boat cart dimension is 66 in (Height) x 22 in (width) x 65.5 in (length); may propose a new cart or exisng for U-boats.

Cart may be modified to work with the AMR (floor clearance, size etc.) or new carts may be proposed.

The desire is to use the existing linen cart; however, as part of the proposal the respondent may identify modifications necessary to function.

The modified cart should be ergonomic and rugged for transportaon to and back from the various desnaons.
