About this file

The document is a Request for Proposals (RFP No. 809-25-0004) issued by the State Preservation Board (SPB) for a sealant replacement project at the Texas Capitol Grounds and the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin. The project involves removing, cleaning, prepping, and replacing existing polyurethane and silicone sealant joints on sidewalks and plazas at both locations. The original sealant was installed in 1997 and 2000, respectively, and has deteriorated due to traffic, weather exposure, and improper installation. The anticipated project schedule is 8 months, with work to be coordinated carefully around legislative sessions, museum operations, and existing site activities.

The SPB is seeking a contractor to provide all necessary labor, materials, insurance, equipment, and supervision for the waterproofing and sealant replacement. The project requires extensive coordination with the SPB project manager, including phased installation, work area protection, and minimal disruption to site operations. Special requirements include ensuring safety, protecting pedestrian and ADA paths, managing construction debris, and coordinating with landscaping and site maintenance. The contractor will have limited on-site parking (up to 3 vehicles) and must coordinate material deliveries and storage with the owner's representative. No owner-supplied materials or equipment will be available for contractor use.
