About this file

This document is a Scope of Work (SOW) for a tensile membrane canopy installation project for the Texas Department of Public Safety at the Lubbock Driver's License Division office. The SOW details comprehensive design and engineering requirements aligned with the 2021 International Building Code, specifying 90 mph wind speed and 5-pound snow load parameters. The vendor's responsibilities include one preliminary design concept refinement, foundation and anchor bolt design, tensile membrane canopy system engineering, architectural membrane patterning, and obtaining building department approvals. The project requires wet-sealed design drawings and calculations from a licensed Professional Engineer, with design and installation of HDPE architectural membrane, powder-coated structural carbon steel, standard drilled pier foundations, and galvanized wire rope cables.

The vendor proposal includes performance and payment bonds, with a standard one-year workmanship warranty for tensile membrane components and a ten-year pass-through material warranty from the membrane manufacturer. Installation will be performed using non-union/non-prevailing wage labor, with the vendor providing necessary equipment, rigging, and tools. The vendor will be responsible for leaving the work area clean upon project completion, with any additional cleaning to be handled by others. Field connections are to be bolted, with no field welding permitted, and the steel corrosion protection will have a one-year warranty. The project requires a soils/Geotech report for site-specific foundation sizing, and if rock is found within the foundation depth, a change order may be necessary.

SCOPE OF WORK

DESIGN/ENGINEERING Design to IBC 2021, 90 mph wind speed, 5-pound snow load.

Vendor proposal for the Project includes the following:

1. One (1) Preliminary Design Concept Refinement.

2. Foundations and anchor bolt for our structure(s). Foundation sizing is based on worst case scenario, a soils/Geotech report (supplied by others) will be required for site specific sizing.

3. Design and engineering for tensile membrane canopy systems.

4. Patterning for fabrication of architectural membrane.

5. Vendor will include limited assistance to the GC/Owner for their coordination with our steel; for any MEP requirements which are to be supplied and installed by others.

Vendor will provide design and engineering assistance for the attachment details.

All MEP requirements will be external to vendor’s steel and exposed to view.

6. Design and Engineering support for building department approval.

7. Wet sealed design drawings and calculations by a licensed Professional Engineer.

FURNISHED MATERIALS

Vendor proposal for the Project includes the following:

1. Fabricated HDPE architectural membrane. Color to be chosen from standard colors.

2. Finish powder coated structural carbon steel directly associated with tensile membrane structure down to and including base plates. All field connections to be bolted – No Field Welding.

3. Standard drilled pier foundations, anchor bolts, and installation. If soils/Geotech report indicates rock within the depth of foundations, a change order may be required

4. Galvanized wire rope cables membrane connections.

5. Performance and payment bonds,

6. Provision of a standard one (1) year workmanship warranty and the membrane manufacturer’s standard ten (10) year pass-thru material warranty. The standard workmanship warranty is for the tensile membrane components, with the exception of the steel corrosion protection, which will only be a one (1) year warranty. Upon completion of the work, vendor will execute the warranty.

INSTALLATION

Vendor will be responsible for the erection of furnished materials for the tensile membrane canopies. Vendor will provide necessary labor at (Non-Union / Non-Prevailing) wage structure. Vendor will also provide necessary equipment, rigging and tools required for the installation of the scope.

1. Vendor will leave its work and materials in a clean condition at the conclusion of our work. Any additional cleaning that may become necessary will be the responsibility of others.
