About this file
This is a technical specification document from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) detailing requirements for customized Motor Trooper uniforms, specifically long sleeve motor under carrier duty shirts and motor trooper trousers. The specifications outline requirements for specialized uniform components including shirts made of water-resistant, self-cleaning fabric (92% PA, 8% EL) with tear/abrasion/impact resistance and 100% UV protection, featuring optional shoulder and elbow/forearm armor in secured Velcro pouches. The trousers must be made with Kevlar blend materials providing tear strength of 1269 pounds in front panels and 420 pounds in back panels, with specific design features including reinforced cavalry areas, multiple secure pockets, and ventilation systems.
The document includes detailed measurements and material requirements, with shirts based on a men's sample size 17-½ inches with 37-inch sleeve length and trousers based on a 36-inch waist size. Both garments must match the approved "Texas Tan" color and be custom-fitted to individual officers. Key features include 4-Ply Textured Nylon Taslan linings, specific zipper types and placements (Style VSC-56 for shirts, VFC-86 for trousers), and specialized construction methods such as 2000-pound seam strength stitching. The specifications allow for a 5% measurement variance unless otherwise noted and require custom sizing for each officer.
