About this file

This document is an amendment to an invitation to bid (IFB) issued by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) for the procurement and installation of ADA light and sound equipment. The amendment extends the bid opening date from July 25, 2024 to August 1, 2024 and provides responses to two questions from bidders. The first question relates to the installation of conduit to mount strobe lights, and the second question addresses whether the horn and strobe light can be separate or must be a combined unit. The TDCJ indicated that running 1/2" rigid conduit is acceptable and that a preferred combination or separate configuration for the horn and strobe light will be acceptable.

The original IFB sought bids to establish a purchase order for the procurement and installation of ADA light and sound equipment. No other details about the pricing, funding, or incumbent contractor were provided in the amendment.

AMENDMENT No. 1

TO BIDDERS: All Bidders DATE: July 25, 2024

BID NO.: IW182663

OPENING DATE: July 25, 2024

3:00 PM

REVISED OPENING DATE: August 1, 2024

3:00 PM

The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions and to extend bid opening date.

Question 1: Do we need to drill 1-1/8” hole through all 63 cells to run ¾” rigid conduit through to mount the Strobe light in the rear upper right corner of each cell, or could we possibly run ¾” rigid up from the existing location where the push station will be located?

Answer 1: It is ok to run ¾” GI conduit, need to use Tamper resistant screws and clamps for conduit attachment.

Question 2: Also, does the horn or sound notification have to be a combination with the strobe light or can the horn be in the push station and light be separated?

Answer 2: Preferred combination or separate will be acceptable.

Our mission is to provide public safety, promote positive change in offender behavior, reintegrate offenders into society, and assist victims of crime.
