About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) seeking current information to perform market research for a portable handheld x-ray scanner. The device should be able to detect contraband and other organic threats behind walls, furniture, metal, clothing, and other surfaces, and operate as a single unit from one side of the target without the need for a secondary device. The x-ray can be viewed from the device or tablet, and the images saved and downloaded. TXDPS is requesting responses to a series of questions regarding the capabilities, specifications, and features of the handheld x-ray device, including penetration depth, waterproofing, weight, image storage, display, lighting, battery life, and transportation case. Respondents may be required to provide a demonstration, presentation, or pilot/proof of concept, but TXDPS will not be responsible for any associated expenses.
The RFI does not commit TXDPS to any procurement or contractual obligation. It is a market research exercise to identify potential sources that can provide the requested handheld x-ray scanner. All submissions become the property of TXDPS and will not be returned. Respondents must provide their company information and acknowledge reading the instructions, as failure to complete the requirements may result in disqualification.
