Solicitation EQ10PCPA1-20-0040 Amendment A0001 SF30, Block 14 continuation page 1
VENDOR RFI: Is there an area for stockpiling or staging approximately 300 yards of asphalt materials?
GSA ANSWER: There is a large laydown area to the west of the facility. No definitive response on the size or whether it can accept 300 c.y. of material.
VENDOR RFI: Leave concrete at RPMs?
GSA ANSWER: Yes.
VENDOR RFI: Take out islands and flat work or replace islands?
GSA ANSWER: Replace islands per SOW VENDOR RFI: Take out concrete lane? The scope seems to indicate we are to mill 2 inches off of both existing concrete and asphalt pavement. (Scope of work Par 2.1.1.5). Is the intent to demo either concrete lane or to just demo the island (SOW Par 1.4.1.4 and 2.2.1) and actually attempt to mill the remaining concrete lanes? The existing concrete is in poor condition in both lanes. What is the thickness of the existing concrete?
GSA ANSWER: As stated in 1.4.1.4 Demo, break, and properly dispose of the (2) existing concrete islands within the LPOE vehicle inspection area. (Comment) See SOW 2.1.1.5., 2.5.4.1 & 2.5.4.2. Concrete pavement, and asphalt pavement on concrete base, shall be scored to a depth of approximately two inches (2”) below the surface of the concrete along the marked cuts. (Comment) The intent is to leave existing cracked concrete in place but mill down 2 inch’s so a new asphalt lift of equal thickness mat be placed over existing surface rather than taking the time and expense to break-up and remove all the old concrete and associated rebar within.) Existing concrete depth is unknown but could be 5 inches or greater.
VENDOR RFI: What is the final pavement section? What is the intended slope of the pavement and direction. Is total thickness in one lift or is there an expectation of multiple lifts with a wear course. If the contractor is expected to determine thickness base on WDOT guidelines, what is the expectation for vehicle weight or traffic loads.
GSA ANSWER: See attachment H which shows new pavement and the areas that will have grind/mill with a new topcoat and seal applied. Slope of pavement and direction shall shed water away from building structure. See WDOT guidelines for slope and vehicle weight for light commercial road loads.
VENDOR RFI: Will there need to be import or export of base material under the asphalt?
GSA ANSWER: To be determined by the contractor. Whatever is necessary to repair/replace the asphalt sections that have failed?
VENDOR RFI: Size and length of downspout lines.
GSA ANSWER: Existing DS are 4". The length of the new runs are to be verified in field by the contractor based on the direction and slope required for proper flow.
VENDOR RFI: Do any of the downspouts require concrete removal.
GSA ANSWER: Asphalt, base, and subgrade removal depending on required slope.
VENDOR RFI: Size and grade of swale improvement? Drainage swale size sufficient to accept the slope runoff.
GSA ANSWER: Swale is required to manage the storm water runoff from the existing hardscape sheet flow as well as the added roof runoff handled by the gutters and downspouts.
VENDOR RFI: Grind mill existing, new top coat and seal. Is it just a 2 inch grind?
GSA ANSWER: That is what was assumed.
