SUMMARY OF WORK
Nenana VORTAC Vegetation Removal
March 8, 2021
1.0 GENERAL
FAA VORTAC equipment requirements include a ground level horizontal 1000 ft. radial clear zone. The Nenana VORTAC located on FAA property has had significant vegetation growth encroaching the 1000 ft. radial clear zone. As a mountaintop facility, there are trees located on the flat top and the sloped edges surrounding the antenna. Trees below the horizontal antenna base field of view do not affect signal radiation. Approximately 5 acres of trees and brush require removal. The remaining 1000 ft. zone is below line of site and does not affect the signal. The purpose of this project is to remove approximately 5 acres of vegetation from the areas designated on the attached map for the FAA VORTAC facility in Nenana, Alaska.
