STATEMENT OF NEED

Profiler Network (NPN) from its office in Boulder, CO. The network is being reduced to three systems, which will be located in Alaska to monitor volcanic ash plumes.
The Profiler Control Center (PCC) located in Boulder, CO is the focal point for profiler network operations. Data from all profiler sites are ingested by the Profiler Hub computer system and made available for display within six minutes of arrival. Meteorologists and technicians use graphical and text-based displays to monitor profiler data and status.
The existing three Alaska wind profilers are being replaced with new phased array wind profiler already procured from DeTect Inc. These new three systems are being installed in Anchorage, Talkeetna and Homer, Alaska. Extra materials required to install the Alaska wind profilers have been identified and are required to be purchased.
