3. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Provide a Miranda-style rescue boat davit system meeting the regulations in References 2.1 through 2.5 above and the requirements listed below.

3.1 The new davit shall have the following salient characteristics:

3.1.1 Safe Working Load (SWL) in the range of 6,600 - 7,900 pounds (3,000 - 3,600 kilograms).

3.1.2 Capable of rescue boat launch and recovery with ship underway at speeds up to 5 knots.

3.1.3 SOLAS Approved for man-rated davit for launching and recovering the fast rescue boat.

3.1.4 Power to supply the unit will be 460 V, three phase, 60 Hz.

3.1.5 Shall be a Miranda type gravity davit with electrical-hydraulic operation.

3.1.6 Capable of launching/recovering a 6.3 Meter Willard Marine SOLAS Sea Force 590-Series RHIB.

3.2 Operates in ambient air temperature ranging between 20 and 120 degrees F (-7and 49 C).

3.3 Capable of operating with the ship holding a permanent list of 20 degrees to either side, with a dynamic roll of 35 degrees to either side, with a permanent trim of 10 degrees by the bow or stern, with a dynamic trim of 10 – 15 degrees by the bow or stern, with athwart ship and fore-and-aft inclination considered to occur simultaneously.

3.4 Configured with davit assembly track ways with perforated boat cradle assembly compatible to fit a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) for boat hoisting, lowering and stowing evolutions.

3.5 Galvanized wire falls for three-wire boat cradle assembly.

3.6 Two sets of suspension gear, including chains, rings and hooks, “Cranston Eagle” or equal for the boat-mounted lifting frame meeting SOLAS requirements with minimum SWL of 8,600 pounds (3900 kilograms). Provide one hook for installation plus one additional hook as an on-board spare [two total].

3.7 Adjustable boat gripe straps and filler assemblies with stainless steel shackles and quick- disconnect fittings for boat stowage with emergency release capability.

3.8 Operates with either an electric motor operated winch control system or an electric hydraulic motor operated winch control system with an hydraulic power unit (HPU).

3.9 Operates with an integrated electrical soft start, total enclosed starting equipment with overload and circuit breaker protection, isolation switch, and indicating lights for electrical service connection in the range of 440 - 480 volts AC, 3 phase, 60 cycle, with load not- to-exceed 60 amp service for either the electric winch motor or the electric HPU motor.

3.12 If the winch is electric, then provide either a two speed electrical winch motor control system or a variable speed control system.

3.13 If the winch is hydraulic, then provide the HPU with marine industry standard vane pump, sump strainer, return filter with bypass valves, flexible drive coupling set and stainless steel reservoir with access plate for cleaning. Include stainless steel isolation valves and desiccant filter type breather vents. Under no-flow conditions, ensure the vent prevents the passage of air, and minimize vented contamination. Ensure the reservoir will not spill fluid when the ship rolls 45 degrees. Include hydraulic pressure gages for all supply pressure piping and tubing systems including supply side of the HPU. Provide all hydraulic hoses with Grade 316 stainless steel fittings. Ensure maximum hose length is less than 30 inches. Pressure test all hoses and attach a permanent metal weather resistant tag engraved or embossed with ¼ inch high letters with the part number, "Tested 150% WP" and Test Date [DD/MM/YY]. Provide a list of hoses with tag numbers on a spread sheet which identifies system design pressure, hose test pressure, hose length, description, and both end fitting OEM part numbers.

3.14 Operates with a dead man brake and a centrifugal brake to control speed of lowering. Include a non-rotating crank handle (in lowering condition). Include automatic hollow pinion couplings. Ensure all mechanical parts operate with gearing running in an oil bath.
