3.0 Government-Furnished Material (GFM)

3.1 None

4.0 Requirements

4.1 Furnish all equipment, materials and labor to clean the

Supply and Return HVAC duct work in accordance with reference 2.2.

4.1.1 Clean the Supply and Return HVAC duct work system that

services the Cabin areas.

4.1.2 Clean the bathroom exhaust system, clean the HVAC

supply and return for the Galley area, Bridge and Lounge/Library area.

4.1.3 Clean the laundry room exhaust duct work.

4.1.4 Re-insulate and paint areas which were disturbed

during the duct cleaning process.

4.2 Furnish all equipment, materials and labor to balance the HVAC System in accordance with reference 2.3.

March 2014

4.2.1 Prior to testing the HVAC system as a complete system, check all fans, motors, coils, filters, compressors, pumps, all control devices, and dampers, etc., for satisfactory operation, adjusted for full load operating conditions;

such components shall not be readjusted during tests. All related companion heating, ventilation and common trunk systems, whether intakes or discharges, shall be in simultaneous operation and all doors closed while these tests are in progress.

4.2.2 Operate the entire air conditioning plant for at least

72 hours with the entire connected load at approximately the maximum design operating conditions, to verify the ability of the system to develop design load at specified temperature and pressure. Check all controls, regulating, modulating and expansion valves, thermostats, dampers, etc.

for proper operation.

4.2.3 Begin the air balancing procedure by measuring the air

flow rate at each fan in the main ductwork before doing any branch duct takeoffs. Determine air flow rate by a duct traverse.

4.2.4 Set the airflow at the fan to 100% to 110% of design

or within limits of the system. Notify the COR if the system is not providing design flow.

4.2.5 Traverse each branch duct and set flow starting with the branch closest to the fan. The last branch or branch with highest resistance shall have the damper full open at the design flow. Measure the average velocity of the air passing through each supply and exhaust terminal and through the entire system and compare measurements with design conditions. Record Barometer and psychrometer readings at the system intake and discharge.

4.2.6 Correct all data for standard air and compare with

design criteria for adequacy.

4.2.7 Balance all terminals to deliver between 95% and 110%

of the designed volume.

4.2.8 Permanently mark and pin, using stainless steel cotter

pins or bolts, damper position final settings.

5.0 Quality Assurance

5.1 All internal duct work cleaning to be performed by standard shipyard practice that ensures all debris has been removed from affected duct sections and systems. Make a video recording of each section of ducting to document final cleaned state.

5.2 Verify that all instruments used to conduct ventilation and system tests have been calibrated within the preceding six months.

March 2014

6.0 Notes

6.1 Performance period shall be April 7, 2014, through April

18, 2014, while vessel is dockside at the Gulf Marine Support Facility, Pascagoula, MS.

6.2 Vessel is available for pre-bid inspection January 7, 2014, while dockside at the dockside at the Gulf Marine Support Facility, Pascagoula, MS. Arrangements for inspections shall be made with NOAA port engineer Brian Kelly, (228) 769-1155.
