See attachment 3 Government will provide transducer and mounting instructions
9.6 REMOVE EXISTING CAPRAIL AND REPLACE WITH STAINLESS PIPE
Contractor shall remove 69 feet of existing stern main deck bulwark cap rails to include removal of the existing welds and replace with 2 1/2” schedule 40, 308 or 316 stainless pipes. The pipes shall be fully welded on both sides with 308/316 stainless welding rods. The pipes shall follow the existing stern cutout. All surfaces shall be properly prepared and cleaned prior to welding.
9.7 BLAST INSIDE OF STERN FUEL TANKS (2) TO BARE METAL
INSTALL FUEL BAFFELS AND TONNAGE BULKHEAD IN EACH TANK
Thoroughly clean the tanks of sand and debris Pressure test both tanks for leaks Install two (2) baffles positioned fore and aft in each stern fuel tank. Dimensions are approximately 8.2 feet by 4.5 feet. Baffle plate material can be either 3/16” or ¼” steel plate and each must be supported by 2” x 2” angle iron. Position of the baffle should allow 18” clearance from the bottom of the each fuel tank and 6” from the top of the tank. The two baffles in each tank shall be spaced 3 feet from the edge of the tank and be 3 feet apart if space allows.
Install two (2) tonnage bulkheads, from the outboard side of each fuel tank to the inboard side of the tank. Each tank bulkhead will be approximately 9 feet x 7 feet and should be constructed from ¼” plate welded in place. Corners should be cut to allow fuel to move freely and an access opening should be cut in each bulkhead to allow tank inspection fore and aft of the bulkhead. The access opening should begin 20” from the bottom of the bulkhead with vertical and horizontal dimensions of 22” Note: Access way should be large enough for a person to crawl through
9.8 Cut out two hatch covers and weld out solid steel plate with same material thickness as surrounding deck. Provide additional bracing as required to support the new deck plates.
9.9 Near white blast main back deck, bulwarks, and clean before painting Follow the manufactures specifications for surface preparation and paint application
Main Deck Paint specifications should be equal to or exceed:
Ameron Dimecote 302H Zinc Primer 34 Dry Film Thickness (DFT) mils.
Ameron Amerlock 2/400 8 DFT mils.
Ameron 888 Nonslip additive 8 DFT mils.
Bulwarks Paint specifications should be equal to or exceed:
Ameron Dimetcote 302 H Zinc Primer 24 DFT mils.
Ameron 235 Epoxy 56 DFT mils.
Americoat 450H Polyurethane 23 DFT mils.
Optional Tasks Pending Available Funding:
A. Purchase and install (2) quick acting, 6 dog watertight doors in the forward berthing area & engine room
Door sizes are approximately:
18 ½” x 48 ½” Engine room, Center of hinge attachment 14 ¾” 22 7/16” x 60 ¾” Forward Berth, Center of hinge attachment 26 ¾” Note: Contractor will be responsible exact measurements and proper seal.
B. Provide additional steel ballast and securely weld to the keel. Results from the vessel’s pending incline test will determine if additional ballast is required. Should the government exercise this option, the steel weight required and location of attachment will be provided at the time of award.
