About this file

This is a Product Liability Insurance Rider document for the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut, establishing mandatory insurance requirements for consultants and service providers delivering products or commodities to the municipality. The rider outlines comprehensive insurance coverage specifications that must be maintained throughout the duration of contract performance, including workers' compensation insurance with employer's liability limits of $100,000 per accident and $500,000 policy limit for disease; commercial general liability insurance with $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 annual aggregate limits; products liability insurance matching the same limits; automobile liability insurance of $1,000,000 per accident; and professional liability insurance of $1,000,000 per claim with $1,000,000 aggregate that must remain in effect for seven years following project completion. The City of Bridgeport requires all consultants and subcontractors to name the municipality as an additional insured on applicable policies, waive governmental immunity defenses, and maintain primary coverage with no contribution from the City's insurance. Consultants must provide certificates of insurance prior to service commencement, with renewals submitted within fifteen days of policy renewal, and must notify the City of any cancellations or material changes with thirty days' prior written notice. All deductibles and self-insured retentions require City approval and remain the consultant's sole financial responsibility. Insurance documents should be submitted to the City Attorney and Purchasing Department at 999 Broad Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604, with the City Attorney retaining discretionary authority to modify coverage requirements if adequate protection is demonstrated through alternative arrangements.
