About this file

This specifications document outlines the detailed technical requirements for four dump truck sander units to be procured by Ada County Highway District in Idaho for fiscal year 2026. Each unit must be a manufacturer's new current model year hydraulic-driven, ice control combination liquid and granular applicator mounted to a dump box and used for highway snow and ice control operations. The specifications matrix details comprehensive requirements across multiple component categories including the hopper body, conveyor system, spinner assembly, anti-ice pumping system, pre-wet system, and auxiliary components such as lighting and storage legs.

The hopper specifications require a 201 stainless steel construction with a 14-foot length, 7.4 cubic yard capacity, and maximum 84-inch width. The conveyor system must feature a chain bar-flight design driven by a low-speed/high-torque hydraulic motor, with adjustable deflectors to control spread patterns. The anti-ice system requires approximately 190 GPM flow capacity at 130 PSI maximum pressure with capability to maintain 30 to 50 gallons per lane mile depending on application speed. The unit must include an 800-gallon pre-wet/anti-ice liquid storage system comprised of two 400-gallon polyethylene tanks mounted on the skid assembly, with all tanks, fittings, and plumbing components constructed of stainless steel or brass. All steel components must be painted black prior to assembly, and the complete de-ice system including spray bar and nozzles will be supplied and installed by Ada County Highway District, with vendors responsible for testing, calibration, and winterization prior to delivery.
