Synopsis for Solicitation DTNH2217R00039

“Compressed Natural Gas Fuel Container Integrity Testing”

Introduction

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) No. 304, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Fuel Container Integrity Testing, sets forth the minimum performance requirements for compressed natural gas containers used for fuel storage in motor vehicles. The test provisions include a pressure cycling test which simulates container fatigue resulting from in-use refueling, a hydrostatic burst test which determines whether or not a container meets the minimum strength requirements set forth in FMVSS No.

304, and bonfire tests which determine the resistance to rupture a container as a result of exposure to a fire and a labeling requirement.

The purpose of this contract is to procure testing and inspection services so that the Government can determine whether CNG fuel containers, designed for use in motor vehicles, comply with the requirements of FMVSS No. 304.
