Project NH FH 47-1(001)

White Mountain National Forest Solicitation: DTFH71-14-B-00029

The purpose of this Amendment is to:

1) Revise the Plans to correct a note relating to roadway reconditioning.

2) Provide a summary of responses to questions/clarifications asked by potential bidders.

The Bid Opening date remains July 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m.

Plan Sheet changes

1. Delete Plan Sheet B01, and substitute the amended Plan Sheet B01.

• Sheet B01 (Plan) updated to correct the “Recondition roadbed. 6’ depth” callout to indicate “6” depth” instead of “6’ depth”.

Questions / Clarifications

The following questions and issues were submitted via email at eflhd.contracts@dot.gov. The Government response or clarification is provided. Due to the repetitive nature of several questions and issues, the wording of the questions may have been revised and some questions have not been included. The Government’s direct response to the sender may also have been updated below for better clarity.

1. Can the existing pavement be ground with a reclaimer?

Response: Yes, a reclaimer may be used for grounding the existing pavement. Milling was specified as opposed to reclamation, because of the presence of boulders in the area, some which cannot be seen. Boulders could damage the reclaimer.

2. Aggregate base grading is listed as 1300 tons. How do we weight what we are grading, or we importing in the 1300 tons?

Response: Pay Item 30101-4000, AGGREGATE BASE GRADING C OR D, is for furnishing and placing aggregate material according to Section 301. The 1300 tons of aggregate base course is the amount of additional material that we calculated that is needed for the leveling course between the milled surface and the Suparpave pavement layer. This quantity also includes the material to be used to build the shoulders of the roadway.” The aggregate base will be measured by the ton according to Subsections 109.02(o) and 109.03.

3. The boulder removal is priced by the each. In the roadway reconditioning pay item, it says to remove boulders in that item. Are boulders paid by each boulder or in the roadway reconditioning item?

Response: Removal of individual boulders 6 inches or larger in diameter will be measured and paid according to Section 203, under Pay Items 20301-0200, REMOVAL OF BOULDER (DIAMETER 6 INCHES TO 2 FEET) and 20301-0200, REMOVAL OF

BOULDER (DIAMETER LARGER THAN 2 FEET).
