Amendment No. 001 2
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION
EASTERN FEDERAL LANDS HIGHWAY DIVISION
Amendment No. 001 Project PRA-NAMA 11(4)
National Mall and Memorial Parks Solicitation: DTFH71-10-B-00012
The purpose of this Amendment is to:
1) Revise the Special Contract Requirements (J-pages) as follows:
a) Section 609 to revise stone curb requirements.
b) Section 703 to add requirements for course aggregate for concrete.
2) Revise the Plans to modify the typical sections and stone curb details.
3) Provide the Land Use Permit (highway occupancy permit) from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Special Contract Requirement changes
1. Delete the first paragraph of Subsection 609.04 of the Special Contract Requirements, page
J-29, and substitute the following.
609.04. Delete the second sentence of the first paragraph and substitute the following:
Set stone curb, 6-inch depth and 8-inch depth, on a Portland cement concrete footing as shown in the plans. Set stone curb, 16-inch depth, in dry-pack concrete bedding so the curb face and top are to line and grade. Place dry-pack concrete on the front and back of the curb as shown in the plans. Protect the dry-pack concrete from moisture until the curb is ready to be set, in order to prevent premature hydration of the cement. Add water to the dry-pack immediately before setting the curb, using just enough water to make the mix adhesive. Blend the water into the dry-pack concrete to produce a uniform mixture. Adjust the curb if necessary to reestablish the correct line and grade.
2. Add the following to Section 703 of the Special Contract Requirements, page J-46.
703.02. Add the following:
For crushed stone used in Portland cement concrete dry mix, furnish No. 67 aggregate.
Plan Sheet changes
1. Delete Plan Sheets B-2, B-3, L-17, and L-18, and substitute amended Plan Sheets B-2, B-3, L-17, and L-18.
