C EXISTING HVAC SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The LAW ATCT is a Type “O” Tower consisting of 4 floors, a Junction Level and a Control Cab.

1. The HVAC systems consist of the following:

a. AHU-1 serves the Cab. It is a Trane # SAUCC10, 10-ton self-contained unit. The unit utilizes R-22 The Cab backup system consist of two exhaust fans located above the cab ceiling, therefore there is no cooling backup for the Cab.

b. AHU-2 serves the fourth floor as well as the third floor electronic equipment room.

The unit is the same as AHU-1, a Trane #SAUCC10. The unit utilizes R-22.

c. AHU-3 serves the second floor Administration areas. The unit is a Trane #TWE036, 3-ton unit with distribution ductwork throughout the floor. The condensing unit serving AHU-3 is CU-3 and is located outside the building at the ground level. The unit utilizes R-22 .

d. AHU-4 serves the first floor. The unit is a Trane TWE036 air handler. It is a heating only unit with an electric heater. The electrical service from this unit is not within code and is served by an abandoned 3-pole breaker in the main distribution panel.

E SCOPE OF WORK

The work includes, but shall not be limited to the following:

1. After the work is awarded, the contractor shall conduct a Site Survey (SS) and gather all the information required to proceed with the engineering, based on the agreed Scope of Work(SOW). The contractor shall report any discrepancies or necessary changes to the

SOW.

2. After the SS the contractor shall design a functioning system based on the agreed SOW.

The contractor shall prepare the engineering drawings using MicroStation or AutoCadd format. The provided drawings are available in electronic format; (other drawings may be available) any additional drawings required for the design package shall be created by the contractor.

3. Upon review and approval of the design and all related submittals, the contractor will then proceed with the construction phase of the project.

4. The contractor’s design drawings shall include, but shall not be limited to:

a. Schedule of equipment showing capacities, models and accessories.

b. All proposed equipment shown on dimensioned drawings

c. Any details and sections that are required to clearly indicate the installation.

d. Temporary HVAC units (if required) and method for connecting to facility.

e. Any variances or modifications from the FAA’s statement of work.

f. Construction schedule.

5. The Specific HVAC and Electrical requirements to be designed and implemented are, but shall not be limited to, the following:

a. Demo existing HVAC and Electrical systems and remove as required to implement the new equipment. No abandoned equipment or materials shall be left in place.

b. Replace existing Cab unit AHU-1 with a commercial split system air handling unit.

The condensing unit will be located at the ground level and piped up to the AHU at the fourth floor. The AHU shall be equal to Carrier 39MN units and the Condensing Unit shall be equal to Carrier 38AUD units.

i. Demo existing condenser O/A intake and Exhaust. The opening shall be enclosed with the siding material, by the same manufacturer as the remaining exterior of the building.

c. Replace existing AHU-2 with a commercial split system air handling unit.

The opening shall be enclosed with the siding material, by the same manufacturer as the remaining exterior of the building.

d. Install new VRF system to serve as backup for the Cab. The system will consist of ceiling cassette units and a condensing unit. The VRF system shall be equal to Toshiba MMU cassette units and Toshiba MMY condensing units.

i. Demo and replace Cab ceiling.

ii. Demo existing exhaust system located above Cab ceiling.

iii. Replace existing can lights in Cab ceiling with modern, energy efficient, lighting.

iv. The VRF condensing unit shall be selected to ensure that cooling or heating can be accomplished while in the Defrost Mode.

e. Install new VRF system to serve as backup for the third floor Electronic Equipment Room. The system will consist of ceiling cassette or high wall units and a condensing unit. The VRF system shall be equal to Toshiba evap units and Toshiba MMY condensing unit.

f. Replace the existing AHU and CU serving the admin area with a similar unit utilizing an approved refrigerant. The new split system shall be equal to Carrier FX4B fan coil with electric heat and 24ACB6-2 stage, condensing unit (16 SEER)

g. Replace the electrical serving the first floor heating only air handler. Identify location in existing panelboards to feed the existing unit. Provide new breakers. Provide disconnect adjacent to unit.

h. Provide duct cleaning services for all existing supply and return ductwork and registers.
