Walk in Freezer Project
Questions and answers
February 27, 2020
1. Size of room – walk-ins are modular in construction and the closest size to that listed is 29’- 9.5” x 15’-10.75” x 9’-6” Is this ok?
Answer: Yes, this will be acceptable.
2. The door spec calls for an overlap thru bolted door, typically this would be an infitting door flush with the panels. Is an infitting door acceptable? Infitting would be typical construction in this instance.
Answer: Yes, an infitting door will be acceptable.
3. Door finishes listed as white yet remainder of walk-in vertical panels are unpainted galvalume – do you still want white?
Answer: Change to All Galvalume.
4. Floor overlay – calls for 3/16” thick, but based on your operation and current freezers built by Bally in 2011, we recommend ¼” thick.
Answer: Change to ¼” thick floor overlay.
5. Floor reinforcement – previously supplied freezer had ¾” plywood foamed in place – recommended due to your operation (same as upstairs)
Answer: Change floor reinforcement to ¾” plywood foamed in place.
6. Spec calls for 3 alarms – the norm would be one alarm. Please clarify.
Answer: Only one alarm is required.
7. Box protection – Exterior protection is fine but interior is not possible. There is nothing to attach the angle to that would not rip out when hit by motorized traffic. I would recommend aluminum diamond plate on the interior walls at least 2’ high. Note that hitting the walls will ultimately cause damage, diamond tread is the best available option unless you wish to pour concrete on the interior.
Answer: Change to Diamond tread to a height of 2’-0”.
8. With regard to electric, I was working on a separate walk in at a different facility and they were going to use their electrician to pull all of the electric and then my electrician will do the final connections-I just want to be clear as to what you would want us to do.
Answer: The facility will perform all electrical work. Electrical work should be excluded from the quote.
9. Refrigeration, the other facility has their own refrigeration guy-do I need to supply one?
Answer: Yes, the contractor needs to provide this tradesperson. All refrigeration work shall be included as part of the quote.
10. Walk in floor, do you want the concrete floor? Can we support the weight of the concrete?
Answer: Provide the floor as specified. Also see question #5.
11. Wall protection, do you want angles or diamond tread? Inside and outside?
Answer: Yes, diamond tread both inside and out. Bollard protection still required outside as well.
12. Alarms, the spec calls for 3 do you need all 3 or will 1 be fine?
Answer: One is sufficient. Also see question #6.
