About this file
This is a set of architectural design drawings and specifications for a window replacement project at Building 52, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
The project involves replacing existing wood windows with new double-pane, aluminum-clad wood windows in Colonial Red color across four buildings: Wagner Hall, Sherman Hall, Grant Hall, and Sheridan Hall. The work must be performed while buildings remain operational and available for public access. Key requirements include: careful removal and protection of existing interior casing and trim; replacement of mechanical/boarded-up window openings with Mapes-R type panels; removal and powder-coating of louvers and mesh screens to match new windows; completion of window removal and replacement within the same day with temporary weather-tight coverings; and interior frame and trim color matching to existing conditions. The contractor must verify all dimensions and existing conditions, provide a sequencing plan with minimum two-week advance notice, maintain means of egress at all times, provide overhead protection and work area enclosures, and avoid service interruptions without government consent. Windows are specified as Sierra Pacific Windows, double-hung with various frame and sash types, featuring 1-inch dual-pane insulated glass with either clear or satin-etch finish. Interior finishes vary by location—fir with white paint, oak with toffee stain, or walnut with clear stain. The window schedule documents specific replacement details for approximately 100+ windows across multiple floors and elevations. All work must comply with lead-based paint regulations and safety requirements.
