About this file
This draft work specification details the procurement of a 19-foot Rigged Hull Inflatable (RHI) Small Boat for the NOAA Ship Oscar Elton Sette, replacing an aging 17-foot boat. The new boat will support various scientific activities including oceanographic instrument deployments, dive operations, bottom fish surveys, marine mammal surveys, and small boat operator training. Key specifications include a 150 HP diesel outboard engine, a center console design, and comprehensive equipment requirements such as navigation electronics, safety features, and a trailer suitable for saltwater use.
The document outlines specific technical requirements for the boat and trailer, including hull dimensions of 19 feet long and 8.5 feet wide, a full foam collar system, and corrosion-resistant components. The procurement includes extensive testing, certification, and training requirements, with a one-year warranty period. Delivery is specified to the Marine Operations Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, with a performance period of 18 months from contract award. The specification notes that a single OXE 150HP, 2.0L, L4 Diesel Outboard with a 25" shaft is known to meet the engine requirements.
