About this file
This document is a draft Statement of Work (SOW) for solid waste collection and recycling services at recreation sites on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Northern Wisconsin.
The SOW outlines the requirements for solid waste collection, including providing bear-resistant dumpsters, deodorizing select dumpsters, and adhering to a collection schedule that varies by season. It also provides an optional service for recyclables collection, with a separate collection schedule. The contractor will be responsible for disposing of the solid waste at a licensed landfill. The intended contract length is up to five years, with an anticipated start date of November 1, 2024. This is part of a pre-solicitation market research effort by the U.S. Forest Service, and a formal solicitation is expected to be posted in August or early September 2023.

Dumpsters must be painted earth tones (brown, green, tan, blue) and be distinguishable from recycling bins. Select receptacles (as identified in the Schedule of Items) shall be deodorized after emptying to neutralize the foul odors of the dumpster so that they can not be smelled when a person is within ten feet of the dumpster.
