● Project Georeference 1951 maps

● General Information

1.0 Scope of Work

This is a contract to scan and georeference 487 historical paper maps of land cover for Puerto Rico. Deliverables will include 1) image files, 2) image files that have been georeferenced to the projection of the original maps and 3) returning the maps to the International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) library.

2.0 Background

The Rural Land Classification Program of Puerto Rico included field work, air photo collection and interpretation to develop land-cover maps of Puerto Rico and its outlying islands at a scale of 1:10,000. Although previously we have scanned and georeferenced a 1:150,000 scale compilation of these maps, high-resolution data are now needed for all of Puerto Rico. There are 487 maps that cover Puerto Rico and its outlying islands of Vieques, Culebra and Mona at 1:10,000 scale. The maps are deteriorating and the information is needed for forest programs and research in Puerto Rico. No Information Technology is being purchased.
