Draft Statement of Work, LSM20200051

Maintenance Plan for ArriLaser Film Recorder Serial Number AL253

LSM20200051

1. OVERVIEW / BACKGROUND. The Library of Congress (Library) requires contract support to provide access to moving image films in both 16mm and 35mm formats. Increasingly within the past few years the scanning of motion picture images has become an accepted form of preservation --however, for the long, term archival storage of moving images is still preferred to be on film stock, rather than digital files. In order to record digital images back onto film stock for archival storage a film recorder is required. At the Packard Campus (PCAVC) Film Preservation Laboratory we use the

ArriLaser, manufactured by Arri, Inc. of Blauvelt, NY. This is a very precise state of the art device that uses red, green and blue lasers to record a digital image on film stock. The device requires a factory trained engineer from Arri to maintain, upgrade and repair.

2. SCOPE. The Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation has a requirement to renew its maintenance support plan for its ArriLaser Film Recorder serial number AL253 and obtain preventative maintenance on the equipment. The purpose of this procurement is to assist the Library in accomplishing part of the Library’s strategic goal to “acquire, preserve, and provide access to a universal collection of knowledge and the record of America’s creativity”.
