Statement of Work (SOW)

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS) North Star Imagining X5000 System

Maintenance and Sustainment Support

1.0 General: This requirement is for the acquisition of consumables (i.e. tips, machine parts, laptop etc.), machine parts, software licenses, training, technical support services, and preventative maintenance for the North Star Imagining, X5000 automated x-ray system.

1.1 Background: The NAVAIR Sustainment Group, Additive Manufacturing (AM) Integrated Product Team (IPT) has developed and proven AM capability as a viable means to enhance supply system response time to the warfighter. Additionally, AM provides an enabling capability to increase current readiness, answer emerging combatant commander threat requirements, and potentially become an increasingly integral part of initial production by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). As the AM capability continues to mature it will become a driver for cost reduction in the area of Operational and Support costs over the life of supported weapon systems and their support equipment. Three systems are operational, one at Joint Base McGuire, Dix and Lakehurst, NJ; one at Patuxent River, MD, and one at FRC East. Each operational system requires routine preventative maintenance, calibration, training and software updates. Acquisition of new systems are anticipated during the course of the contract. Service shall be provided by approved original equipment manufacturer qualified service technicians. The unit has no backup and is the single source for additive manufacturing research capabilities within the NAVAIR.
