About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for cryopreservation services for Atlantic salmon and lumpfish sperm. The USDA Agricultural Research Service National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center will provide Atlantic salmon sperm from up to 30 fish per year in November and December to be cryopreserved in ten straws capable of fertilizing 200 eggs each or three packs capable of fertilizing 5,000 eggs each. Lumpfish sperm from spawning from March to May will also be cryopreserved in ten straws. The cryopreserved sperm must then be stored by the service provider until shipped to the USDA Agricultural Genetic Resources Preservation Research facility in Fort Collins, Colorado. Reports are required detailing sperm concentration, motility, and contamination for each sample. Identification information for each pack and straw correlating to specific samples must also be reported.

SOW -- Atlantic salmon and lumpfish sperm cryopreservation services
Statement of Work:
The USDA Agricultural Research Service National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center requires cryopreservation of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) and lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) sperm. The cryopreserved sperm will be stored at the USDA Agricultural Genetic Resources Preservation Research facility in Fort Collins, CO.
Specifications:
Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) sperm will be supplied by the National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center. The preserved Atlantic salmon sperm should be stored in ten straws capable of fertilizing 200 eggs each or three packs capable of fertilizing 5000 eggs each. The center needs to be able to preserve up to 30 fish each year with spawning occurring in November and December. The cryopreserved sperm will need to be stored by the provider until it can be shipped to the ARS facility in Fort Collins, CO (Agricultural Genetic Resources Preservation Research unit). A report will be supplied containing quantification of sperm concentration, motility, and contamination to the National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center. The report will also contain the information that will allow the identification of the packs and straws to specific samples.
Lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) sperm will be stored in ten straws with spawning occurring March to May. The cryopreserved sperm will need to be stored by the provider until it can be shipped to the ARS facility in Fort Collins, CO. A report will be supplied containing quantification of sperm concentration, motility, and contamination to the National Cold Water Marine Aquaculture Center. The report will also contain the information that will allow the identification of the packs and straws to specific samples.
